Marriott basin Summer daytrip

Much of the area consists of pristine alpine meadows surrounded by steep but seductive slopes, rambling ridges, and majestic peaks. Magical waterfalls cascade down to the valleys where crystal clear mountain streams wind lazily through alpine meadows. Colour abounds in the form of lupins, heather, arnica, valerian, and other delicate flowers.

Anna on top of Snowspider Mountain, Her first Summit

Snowspider Mountain 2494 m
Located at the triple headwaters of Twin One, Van Horlick, and Twin Two Creeks.
Snowspider has two summits, located about 50 m apart. The the northeast summit is a few meters higher than the southwest summit. Between the two summits lies a gap with 20-m high, vertical walls on both sides. Each wall has a weakness that reduces the difficulty of a traverse between the two pinnacles to a few moves of Class 4.

The mountain has three ridges: the Northeast, Northwest and South. The southeast face of the mountain is an impressive 150-m high vertical wall. A small pocket glacier is squeezed in between the upper northwest and northeast ridges.

Marriot basin

Always a treat in summer, this area offers an equally delightful wintertime experience. The pristine meadows filled with meandering streams, lakes and wild flowers in the summer are transformed into a winter wonderland when the snow starts falling.
A ski trip in to the Wendy Thompson Hut is a long trip, . The hardest part is turning around and going home, so plan on spending the night in the well-appointed, comfortable hut. (The hut was built and is maintained by the Alpine Club of Canada Whistler Branch.

Mt Rhor

The trail ascended steadily but not terribly steeply, and then broke through the trees into a beautiful meadow. The trail then headed straight up the mountainside, mostly IN an extremely muddy streambed. When we weren't trudging through the streambed, we were scrambling up rocks. Either way, the going was treacherous. Not for the faint of heart. We finally made it to the lake though and were rewarded for our efforts by a beautiful alpine lake.
The lake is an emerald jewel nestled snugly at the base towering slopes.
This phenomenal trail is a must do for anyone with a passion for alpine hiking
